´╗┐Hello everyone! My name is Kayla Marie Bortolazzo and I am so excited to be a first-year graduate student in this program. I am originally from Redding, California where I was born and raised. I have a younger brother, Cameron who is eight years my junior and I feel like a lot of what I do, I do to be an example to him. I am also really close to both of my parents, who are a constant source of support and love to me.
I cannot believe I am actually in grad. school pursuing the career that I have always dreamed of having! I am only 21, but I have known that I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in Jr. High. Throughout my life, I have always had really great teachers who positively influenced me. I have also had many teachers who completely discouraged me. It is mainly for the latter reason that I want to be a teacher.
In my spare time (when I have any) I love to read and write in my journal (my undergraduate degree is in English). I also love to sing and dance and I have been performing in some capacity since I was eight. When I am not at school or work, I am most likely with my second family, also known as the Rogue Valley Church. I help lead a Bible discussion group on the SOU campus every week and enjoy all of the interesting conversations I get to encounter through that.
Well, that pretty much sums me up. I look forward to learning more about all of you through these introductions and in the coming years we have together as a cohort!
